Eating in Montone

Lots of good options for eating in the village of Montone!

In alphabetical order, because we live in a small  town.

Antica Osteria: Located in the main piazza. In the summer, dine outside. In the cooler months, dine in the upstairs dining with room that has a spectacular view of the Umbrian countryside. Known for their grilled steak, served on a salt block.

Piazza Fortebraccio, 5/6

Tel/Fax 075.930.62.71

Aires Bar: In the piazza, it is the town bar. Sooner or later you wind up here. Home of the Montone Breakfast Club and frequent place where we find #salvation.  Everyone hangs out in the piazza where aperitivi and pizza are served.

Bars in Italy don’t just sell liquor.  A bar is  a coffee shop, where you eat breakfast and have a mid-day pick-me-up, go to watch the game with friends, and catch up on  local news. Choose your bar wisely. Make friends with your baristas and life will be good.

Erbe Luna

Hotel Fortebraccio – The hotel is outside the walls, within easy walking distance, and it has a lovely terrace. They’ve changed the dining format a few times, so not sure what is happening there right now.

Il Mugnaio Pizza and Bakery: Go down the Del Verziere steps and at the base of the steps is a charming coffee and bake shop. Parking can be chaotic, but if your car gets blocked, don’t panic just walk in and ask the owner to move. Happens all time. Nice pastries, bread and coffee.

Via Aldo Bologni 3/5
Montone 06014

La Locanda del Capitano

Tipico Osteria: Up Via Roma, on the left hand side as you walk up from the piazza. Specialising in local food, wine and fabulous olive oil. Cozy and comfortable indoor dining, and romantic outdoor dining in the summer.

Via Roma, 3, 06014 Montone PG

Tel: 075 928 8040

Taverna del Verziere: Walking down via Garibaldi as you come down from the piazza, there’s a little tunnel on your left. Go through the tunnel, and turn right. Down a few steps and you’ll be there. Good typical Umbrian food served on one of the most beautiful terraces in Umbria. In cooler months, there is a cozy dining room. Expect friendly service. Pastas are especially good, as is the wine list.
